What “pet-safe” means at Earthroots

We use the phrase to describe our ingredient-conscious approach, not a promise that burning a candle is risk-free for every animal. Our formulas use soy wax, cotton wicks and carefully selected fragrance oils. As described in our product information, they are made without phthalates, CMRs or ingredients on the California Proposition 65 list. These ingredient exclusions do not establish that smoke or fragrance is safe to inhale.

Every pet and home is different. Follow each candle’s instructions and ask your veterinarian about your animal’s needs.

Small-batch comfort, inspired by Central Oregon

From warm pumpkin and toasted spices to earthy woodland scents, our candles bring seasonal comfort to everyday rituals. Find scent notes, sizes and ingredients on each product page.

Equinox: Pumpkin, buttercream and toasted spices.

The Woods: Maple leaf, acorn and sandalwood.

Before lighting a candle around pets

  • Keep flames, hot wax and candles out of reach of paws, tails and curious mouths. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Use ventilation and let dogs and cats leave the room. Stop using fragrance if your pet shows discomfort.
  • Avoid scented candles around birds. Their respiratory systems are especially sensitive; ingredient labels do not make a candle bird-safe.
  • For pets with breathing conditions or sensitivities, consult your veterinarian before using home fragrance. A flameless, fragrance-free candle provides ambience without combustion.
